Printbank Mackay artist Bridgette Zimmermann demonstrates her art practice as part of our Artist in residence program in the Art on Show Pavilion.

The talented artists from the Slade Point Drawing Group, a group of likeminded artists with a passion for Life Drawing who meet weekly to draw the nude figure, joined us in 2019. Artists observed the human form and were drawing from life using mediums such as charcoal, conte, pastel or pencil. Onlookers invited to try their hand.

Artspace Mackay Gallery Director Tracey Heathwood presented an inspirational Director’s Choice: Artists’ books floor talks.  Choosing a selection of her favorite artists’ books from the Mackay Regional Council artists’ books collection.  Tracey has a long association with the gallery and its collection of artists’ books and is herself a practicing printmaker, and her shared personal insights into some of her favorite artists and artists’ books, a wonderful and insightful addition to the 2019 event.

Botanic artist Margaret Lane, joined us in 2016 as part of the Botanical Art interest Group Artists in Residence members. Showcasing the talents of Mackay`s wonderful botanic artist to the wider community.

Mackay Art Society joined us in 2019.  Showcasing their talents and demonstrating the fine art of easel painting, depicting the artist’s individual style, form colour and details.

Artist in residence local potter Joanne Wood from Mackay`s Pioneer Potters demonstrates the art of wheel throwing during the 2016 event.

The skilled potters from our very own Pioneer Potters demonstrated wheel thrown pottery, building, textures on clay, pinch pots and coil work. Children visiting the venue also enjoyed joining in and decorating pots.
